Limited to very low runs, Smoke & Oakum’s Gunpowder Rum is remarkably rare. Each bottle, hand numbered and dated, is a hark back to the legends of pirates.

A recreation of a rum 300 years old S&O’s Gunpowder Rum is based the legend of pirate Black Beard’s appetite for rum often augmented with flavourings as wild as gunpowder, blood and soil.

Crafted in New Zealand from a blend of imported rums with spices including gunpowder (or it’s three main ingredients; Saltpeter, Sulphur and Charcoal), chillies and nicotine-free Calumet pipe tobacco.

Tasting notes: Smokey chocolate on the nose, deep molasses with a chillie hit on the palate and a strong finish.

Serving Suggestions:

Cocktail Recipe for S&O’s Gunpowder Rum: Pirata
> 30ml S&O’s Gunpowder Rum
> 15ml Orgeat Syrup
> 15ml Briotet Creme de Cacao Ambre
> 15ml Brandy
> 7ml Fresh Lemon Juice

Method: Add ingredients into a crushed ice-filled shaker and shake well. Pour into a tiki mug. Hollow out half of a lime, float on top and fill with more Gunpowder Rum and a sprinkling of demerara sugar. Ignite and sprinkle with cinnamon.

    Damaged goods

    If there are signs the box is damaged upon delivery, please make a note on the courier’s signature forms. If your items inside are damaged in any way, please keep them and contact us immediately and we will talk you through the process of returning the goods so we can replace them.
