Monkey Shoulder is the world's first Triple Malt blended malt Scotch whisky distilled at the Glenfiddich Distillery, Scotland.
The name Monkey Shoulder is derived from the condition that used to affect distillery maltmen who spent long shifts turning the malt by hand, leading to their arm hanging down like a monkey.
Monkey Shoulder is a blend of three single malts from the finested distileries in Speyside, Glenfiddich, Balvenie and Kininvie. The chosen malts are aged in first fill ex-bourbon casks that have been repaired in-house to make sure of their quality.
The three malts are then blended together in a marrying tun for up to 6 months.
Tasting notes: Zesty orange and mellow vanilla with hints of honey & spiced oak on the nose. Mellow vanilla and spicy hints on the palate with a super smooth finish.
Monkey Shoulder Cocktail Recipe: Monkey Jam Sour
> 50ml Monkey Shoulder
> 5ml Sugar syrup
> 2 tsp Jam
> 20ml Fresh lemon juice
> Soda water
> Orange bitters
Assemble whisky, syrup, jam, juice and bitters into an ice-filled shaker and shake well. Double strain over an ice-filled rocks glass and top with soda. Garnich with a cherry.
