Karven’s Starka barrel aged vodka is a combination of Eastern European tradition with contemporary New Zealand style.

A Starka Vodka is a Polish tradition where when a child is born, a barrel is filled with vodka, some botanicals and sealed with bee’s wax. The barrel is then buried only to be dug up and drunk when that child gets married.

Karven’s twist on the tradition sees them taking their elegant grain vodka which is infused with local botanicals, including native Kawakawa, and manuka honey and then age rested in small American oak barrels for 6 to 8 weeks.

The resulting flavoured vodka is a interesting spirit that makes an amazing mule with ginger beer.

Tasting Notes: Deep amber in colour, subtle cream and toasted vanilla and honey on the nose. Old port and young brandy with manuka honey on the palate. A complex finish of mixed spice.

Karven Starka Vodka Cocktail Recipe: Starka Mule

> 50ml Karven Starka Vodka
> East Imperial Ginger Beer
> 5ml Fresh lime juice

Assemble ingredients in an ice filled collins glass. Garnish with a mint sprig.

    If there are signs the box is damaged upon delivery, please make a note on the courier’s signature forms. If your items inside are damaged in any way, please keep them and contact us immediately and we will talk you through the process of returning the goods so we can replace them.
